Valli Design UK

Welcome to my website. I'm Valli Shaughnessy, textile artist and designer.

I am creating bags, purses, doggy treat holders aka Tacos plus small evening clutches.

My Christmas fairs are listed below.

My current stock can be seen at these events. Should you wish to order something, please contact me. It can be collected at these events or direct from me.

The Nyxy Nook bears are still here, but not as the sole focus of my creativity.

Bags & Purses

I have managed to source very high quality faux leather including Chieftain Faux leather vinyl, plus faux suede

and some exciting designer cottons to compliment the colourful array. See below for more details.

I am busy creating a new range behind the scenes.

Feel free to contact me for further information.

NOTE:
I am taking a break from making bears to concentrate on bags, therefore this was my last fair at Hugglets for the foreseeable future.

Thank you to everyone who came to see me and bought a bear or bag.

Fabrics for bags

Creating bags from my hand woven fabric, plus vinyl, cotton, silk and more.

I have managed to find a reliable source for this wonderful quality faux leather, plus velvety faux suede and designer prints in cotton quilting.

Most of my items are OOAK. I enjoy variety. You will notice that when you see the array of colours and styles at my shows and fairs.

About

I'm always asked if Valli is my real name. Yes, it is. No, it isn't a short form. No, it isn't Val. It really is Valli. Nice to meet you.

I am now retired from full time work. That means I'm free to create full time! I'm delighted to be exploring the wonderful world of bags and accessories.  I've always been creative. It's exciting to incorporate my previous skills and knowledge into hand crafted bags and accessories. Adding my particular brand of colour combination, texture and quality.

My aim is to create items using patterns from various designers, most of whom are British. I will also be designing my own patterns. It takes time to get my ideas into a working, useful product, hence why I'm using tried and tested patterns from some fabulous designers to start with.

Please join me on this adventure of colour, style and practicality.

1st Place Mahout

Mahout (teddy bear) guiding an elephant, accessories must be incorporated.

I spent six months planning and over thirty hours making my entry. A huge amount of research went into this.

I wanted the elephant and bear to be in scale with one another.

These are my original designs, made by me specially for this event.

This set now resides in the States.

Artist Awards
'Bears who tell a story'
Saturday 10  June 2017

I won an Ian Pout Award, Highly Commended for Samuel Needlebear.
I am thrilled to have received this award.
I spent many months researching into the history and type of clothing worn by a Jewish tailor in 1900.
This is an homage to my great grandfather, Samuel Needleman, who, I believe, has passed his skills onto me through the genes, as all his children were tailors, seamstresses or milliners.
